Based on  the iconic Cinderella pumpkin carriage, my intention was to design an elevated home-decor piece that any adult Disney collector would be proud to display in their home. Visually, the design drew inspiration from my appreciation of Lenox-style ceramics— muted pastels with gold metallic detailing.  We anchored the color palette in Cinderella’s signature blue dress and layered in gold accents to convey a luxe feel.

Interesting fact: For obvious safety reasons, Disney’s guidelines required that all candle jars could only be based on inanimate objects and never a character likenesses. This wast to ensure that children would be significantly less likely to confuse the jars for a toy.
Product photography was executed in-house under my art direction, using a custom 60" × 80" printed backdrop of Cinderella’s castle to situate the piece in a recognizable moment from the film. Further retouching was done in Adobe Photoshop, ensuring the final imagery aligned with both Charmed Aroma’s brand standards and Disney’s licensing requirements.

Disney granted flexibility beyond their standard Cinderella style guide, allowing me to combine visual references from our hero product photo and push the packaging toward a more sophisticated, décor-led look.

Disney Hocus Pocus Cauldron Candle (2022)

This collection was inspired by Disney’s 1993 film Hocus Pocus and featured two formats: a standard 2‑wick glass jar and a ceramic cauldron vessel. The cauldron candle incorporated a silhouette of the Sanderson sisters on one side and the Hocus Pocus logo on the other.
For the product photography, I built a mini set evocative of the witches’ cottage, complete with “glowing” potions. I wanted the set to feel like a glowing 90s spell book come to life, with a bold palette of purple and neon green. I used an LED blacklight and, thanks to a YouTube tip, discovered that green dish soap glows perfectly under UV, creating a magical “potion” effect.

A 30" x 40" sparkle bokeh backdrop added extra shimmer, while a spotlight from above helped define the dark cauldron in the dim scene. Because the candle is so small, I styled it on wood deck tiles for scale and later edited out the seams.

The same graphic elements  were across the e‑commerce product images and retail packaging, to maintain a cohesive look across all touchpoints.

I designed this Alice in Wonderland–inspired teacup candle jar as a functional, collectible piece of character-led home décor. Made of dolomite, the vessel was conceived as a stack of whimsical teacups—referencing the film’s Mad Tea Party sequence.

For the product photography, I leaned heavily into storytelling, creating two sets: a Mad Hatter’s tea table scene and a vignette inspired by the film’s oversized red toadstools. These narrative environments anchored the product in the whimsical Alice in Wonderland universe.

For this Alice in Wonderland candle campaign, I wanted the photos to feel like they were pulled straight from the film’s whimsical world. To capture that, I took inspiration from Mary Blair’s bold, graphic color style, which shaped the concept art for the 1951 movie. I printed a 30" x 40" backdrop of Blair’s artwork and used it as the foundation of my set, so the candle could live directly within her imaginative Wonderland. These behind-the-scenes shots show how the product was carefully staged against her iconic visuals to create a vibrant, storybook atmosphere that honors the original film.

While the jar/candle was limited to silhouette-only artwork, Disney granted additional flexibility on the outer packaging, allowing a full illustrated panel featuring Alice. This was a deliberate retail decision: by making Alice highly visible on one face of the box, the packaging functioned as the primary character billboard on shelf, driving instant recognition.

For this Winnie the Pooh–inspired honey pot candle, I once again was inspired by the look of classic Lenox Disney collectibles. The jar features a clean white ceramic body with gold electroplated honey dripping over the rim, with a few bee accents to add a touch of whimsy. The intent for it to be a sophisticated, display-worthy piece that reads as both adult Disney merch and home décor.
For the product photography, I built a warm, honey-toned set, using layered beige and yellow backgrounds to make the white jar visually pop. This image became Charmed Aroma’s most-liked photo on Instagram, surpassing 1 million likes, and this candle went on to become our top-selling Disney launch of all time.
To complement the hero product image, we shot the jewelry photography in the same warm, honey-toned palette. The illustrative frame was done in Adobe Illustrator, inspired by the 100 Acre Wood.
The packaging designed to mirror the product photography. The box artwork features a gold foil “honey drip” that echoes the electroplated drip on the ceramic jar. Once again aiming for a premium, collectible feel and strong shelf impact.
Disney The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack Skellington Coffin Candle (2021)

Inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, this coffin-shaped vessel was based on the character Jack Skellington. To maintain the sculptural detail of Jack, the lid was produced in resin, while the coffin base was made in dolomite ceramic. The overall design was intended to balance the gothic cues from the film with home décor sensibilities.
Working within Disney’s “no characters on the jar” guideline, I developed a workaround by placing Jack’s full likeness on the removable lid rather than the body of the candle—ensuring the character is present at purchase but safely removed when the candle is burning.
For the product photography, my goal was create graveyard-inspired environment that felt true to the film. I built a monochromatic purple set using textured purple moss and lit the scene with purple photography gels, creating an eerie, stylized glow.
To add scale-appropriate set dressing and a subtle nod to Jack the Pumpkin King, I incorporated miniature pumpkins sourced from spare parts of a NECA Pumpkin King action figure. This combination of practical set-building and controlled, colored lighting produced Tim Burton worthy hero image that reinforced the product’s narrative at a glance.
This behind-the-scenes view really shows how important it is to “paint with light.” I used an LED blacklight to cast a dramatic, directional shadow, and even brought in a small graveyard fence just outside the frame to create eerie, environmental shadows that deepen the mood. With beloved Disney IPs, so much of the product’s appeal comes from nostalgia and storytelling, and this lighting setup was my way of visually tapping into that charm.

Disney Villains Poison Apple Candle (2021)
I reimagined the classic Snow White poison apple as an elevated, adult-focused home décor piece by intentionally breaking from the traditional red apple. Instead, I designed a black ceramic vessel accented with a gold electroplated “poison” drip, creating a more sophisticated, fashion-forward color palette for the ‘Disney Villains’ line.
This darker, metallic treatment preserved the iconic silhouette of the poison apple but with a more contemporary décor look, for Ann older Disney audience, positioning it more as a collectible.
